Spring Forester is a tournament that will be played on May 19, 2024, in Varaždin as the first round of the Triple Bogey Tour 2024 at the Drava Forester course. The competition will consist of three rounds of 13 holes each.
This year's tournament will be the fourth edition of Spring Forester. This tournament was first played in 2021 with the participation of 46 competitors from Austria, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, and Slovenia. In the second edition in 2022, which was played as the 1st round of the Triple Bogey Tour, 38 competitors participated from Hungary, Croatia, and Slovenia. In the last third edition, 35 competitors from Croatia, Austria, and Slovenia participated.
Spring Forester will be played one day after the Black Cats & Fluffy Kittens tournament at the same venue and using the same baskets and tees but with a different course layout.
All three rounds of the Triple Bogey Tour 2023 are played in PDGA color categories open to both genders, namely Purple (rating up to 800), Green (rating up to 850), Red (rating up to 900), and Gold category (for all other players).
More information about the tour and scoring for the overall ranking can be found on the Triple Bogey Tour page.
A player who had the right to participate in a specific category in the first round of the tour (e.g., someone with a rating of 846 sufficient for Green) can participate in the same category in all three rounds of the tour, even if their rating exceeds the category limit in the meantime.
Additionally, each player can play in a higher category by rating if they choose to do so (e.g., someone with a rating of 730 can play Purple, but also any other category, but a player with a rating of 870 cannot play Purple or Green).
Players who are not PDGA members and do not have a rating can play in the Purple category only if they have not played PDGA tournaments so far, or if they have played PDGA tournaments and their average rating for the last 6 rounds is not more than 800 rating points. If their rounds are worth more than 800, they can then play in the Green, Red, or MPO/FPO category. A player who has no rating, but whose last 6 rounds are worth more than 850 rating points, cannot play in the Green category but can play in the Red or MPO/FPO category.

If the participation fee is not paid in advance, payment will be possible in cash at the tournament itself.
For the Green, Red, and Gold categories, €5 from each entry fee is allocated to the prize pool of the category, and after the last round, the top 25% of players in each category will receive cash prizes (or equivalent in goods) according to the distribution table.

Play
The competition will take place in the following format:
Round 1 - groups will be formed with mixed categories and strength groups determined by PDGA rating. We will try to avoid putting players from the same clubs/countries in the same groups in the first round so that they can socialize with players they don't regularly see through the game.
Round 2 and Round 3 - groups formed by result, without mixing categories
Course
The course where the tournament is played is located at the Drava Forester course, in the forest next to the Arena Varaždin hall.
The baskets used on all holes are Disc golf park targets.
The tees will be covered with artificial grass carpet.
Course map in a PDF format can be downloaded from this page.
Weather
You can follow the weather forecast for Varaždin on the Yr.no website. In case of bad weather, you can also follow the lightning radar or radar display of precipitation.
Since the course is mostly located in an old forest, in case of announced strong wind (stronger than 10 m/s), the competition may be postponed (or relocated to another location) for the safety of the competitors.
Accommodation
We will offer participants the option of shared accommodation near the venue, where multiple people can stay.
Parking
If you are coming by car, you can park at the Arena Varaždin parking lot (google maps location).
Toilets
Toilets are available at several locations within the hall and tournament center.
Photos
All photos taken at the tournament will be added to a Google Photos Album at the end of each day and can be downloaded and used for social media. When posting on Instagram, please use #triplebogeytour #springforester #discgolfvarazdin #varazdin @lagoda_disc_golf @volim.varazdin
Ace Pool
All players who wish to can pay €1 in cash, which is placed in a special cash box. From previous Lagoda tournaments, the Ace Pool cash box already contains €83 as of March 21st.
A player who hits an ace during the tournament becomes the winner of the entire Ace Pool prize fund. If two or more players hit an ace at the same tournament, they share the Ace Pool. If no player hits an ace, the Ace Pool is carried over to the next Lagoda tournament, and so on until the Ace Pool is paid out at one tournament. The Ace Pool will not be transferred to the Euro Tour Pro Forester.
A player who wants to participate in the Ace Pool must pay €1 before the start of the first round. If a player hits an ace but has not paid into the Ace Pool before the start of the first round, they are not eligible for the prize.
CTP – Closest to the pin
On one hole, we will organize an additional competition for who throws the disc closest to the basket, and it will take place during the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds. There will be a meter next to the basket, and the player whose disc comes to rest near the basket can measure the distance from the pole to the disc. The player whose disc, after the end of the second round of competition, has the shortest distance from the basket wins the prize.
For the result to be valid, the disc must be 5m or less away from the basket, and you need to send a photo from the distance shown on the meter to the official tournament WhatsApp group.
Overachiever
The prize is awarded to the player who has played the tournament on average the most above their rating (according to the current ratings on the PDGA website). All tournament participants who have a PDGA number and active membership and have at least 20 rounds played in their rating are eligible for this competition.
Prizes and Tournament Respect Tombola
At the tournaments we organize, trophies and any smaller prizes are awarded to the top three players in the MPO, FPO, Red, and Green categories who pay the full entry fee, and the winner of the Purple category (who pays the reduced entry fee), while additionally rewarding through a raffle all players who have earned it by respecting the rules of the tournament. The raffle takes place at the end of the tournament, after the winners in all categories have been announced. The usual main prize in the raffle is a disc golf backpack. To claim a prize in the raffle, a player must:
1. Be present at the player meeting (when we read your name at the beginning of the meeting, you need to be present)
2. Pay the tournament entry fee in advance or during the tournament (no later than the start of the award ceremony)
3. Play all rounds of the tournament
4. Register on time (mandatory check-in) if specified in the tournament schedule
5. Be present at the award ceremonyIf a player is drawn in the raffle and has not fulfilled all four criteria, they cannot claim the prize, and the next player is drawn. The same player cannot win a prize in the raffle at two consecutive tournaments.
