Spa Hills 2025

Spa Hills is a two-day tournament taking place over the weekend of 26th and 27th July 2025 at Terme Sveti Martin. It offers all participants the opportunity to combine competing on the course where the 2018 European Championship was played with a summer vacation at the Terme Sveti Martin resort. This international disc golf tournament is organized by Lagoda Disc Golf and the Vall Tours travel agency, with support from local partners such as the Terme Sveti Martin resort and the Međimurje County Tourist Board.

This will be the 11th edition of the tournament, as Spa Hills has been held annually since its first event in 2015. At the 10th edition of Spa Hills in 2024, 75 competitors participated from Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, and Serbia. For 2025, participation of around seventy players from ten countries is expected.

If you are attending the tournament for the first time and would like to learn more about the destination and the event from a disc golf tourist perspective, additional information can be found on our dedicated page.

The official accommodation for the tournament is at the Terme Sveti Martin resort, including the Terme Hotel and the apartment village located right next to the disc golf course. In addition to the sporting activities, participants can enjoy thermal pools, wellness facilities, and the beautiful surroundings of Međimurje.

The tournament will take place over two days, with three rounds of 18 holes.
In the first nine editions, the tournament was played on a single course layout featuring long holes, which often resulted in players with shorter throws (such as those in the FPO division and lower-rating divisions) scoring well above par with very few birdie opportunities and lengthy round durations.
At last year’s 2024 tournament, for the first time, we introduced two course layouts: a long layout called the White Course for MPO and Red divisions, and a new shorter Blue Course for other divisions.

Competition format

The competition will be conducted in the following format:

RoundGroup Formation
1

Groups will be formed with mixed categories and strentgh groups based on PDGA ratings, depending on the course layout being played - MPO and Red will be mixed together, while other categories will form separate groups.

We will aim to avoid placing players from the same clubs/countries in the same group during the first round to encourage interaction with players they do not regularly meet.

2 Groups formed based on results, with mixed categories according to the course layout being played.
3 Groups formed based on results, without mixing categories.

Course

The 18-hole course is desgined on a golf course and the surrounding forests, combining shorter, technical forest holes with open holes.
Temporary placed Disc Golf Park target baskets will be used for the competition. We plan to mark 3m and 10m circles around each basket (except in case of poor weather in the days leading up to the tournament).
All tees will be prepared with artificial grass mats.
Please note that one hole (Hole 2) may not be perfectly mowed, as that part of the course is not owned by the resort (a condition we’ve been playing with for years). All other holes should be in excellent condition.

We will prepare two course layouts: a long layout for the MPO and Red categories and a shorter layout for all other categories.
The final course map will be available on this page before the tournament begins. Currently, you can download the map from the 2024 tournament, and the plan is to keep the same course for the 2025 tournament.

The White (long) layout has been played at several tournaments. The current records are 48 (-10) by Stanislaus Amann (rated 1036), achieved twice at the 2023 tournament, and 60 (+2) by Andreja Bernjak (rated 919) at the same event.
The record for the shorter Blue layout is -6 (51, rated 950) by Nino Krvavica for men and -3 (54, rated 914) by Barbara Poljšak for women, achieved during the 2024 tournament.

Additional Information

Communication with Participants
A WhatsApp group will be created for communication with participants. The link to join the group will be sent via email.
Joining the WhatsApp group is optional, but all announcements (schedule changes, group assignments for rounds 1, 2, and 3, etc.) during the tournament will only be communicated through this group.
Participants can also use the group to notify the organizers of delays, complete the mandatory check-in on Sunday before round 3 without coming to the Golf House, report CTP competition results, or share information about lost and found items on the course.

Weather
You can follow the weather forecast for Toplice Sveti Martin on Yr.no. In case of bad weather, you can also check the lightning radar or the precipitation radar.
If strong winds (above 10 m/s) are forecast, some forest holes may be removed for safety, and a modified course layout will be played using only open-area holes.

Food
Participants will have the option to pre-order lunch on Saturday. The menu and prices will be announced later.

Parking
You can park near the Golf House (Google Maps). Please note that there is a risk of parked cars being hit by discs from Hole 18, which is close to the stairs leading to the Golf House
Recommended parking for players is the one next to the hotel Terme. Parking is free of charge.

Side events

Ace Pool
All players who wish to participate can pay €1 in cash, which will be placed in a special fund. Players must pay this fee before the start of the first round to be eligible. If a player hits an ace but has not paid into the Ace Pool, they are not entitled to the prize.

The player who hits an ace during the tournament wins the entire Ace Pool. If two or more players hit an ace, the Ace Pool is shared among them.

If no aces are hit, the Ace Pool rolls over to the next Lagoda tournament, up to a maximum of €100, and continues to roll over until it is won. Any amount exceeding €100 is allocated to the development of disc golf courses and the promotion of disc golf.

This fund is accumulated across all tournaments organized by Lagoda Disc Golf, and the current balance will be announced before the tournament.

CTP – Closest to the Pin
The CTP competition takes place over all three rounds on two selected holes. The best player is the one whose disc comes to rest closest to the basket.
A measuring tape will be available near the basket, and players can measure the distance from the pole to their disc.
To be valid, the distance must be less than 3m, and the result must be reported in the official tournament WhatsApp group.

In each round, the player with the best CTP result on the two selected holes will qualify for the CTP final. This means that after three rounds played six players will advance to the final stage of the competition.
If a player wins CTP more than once, they will enter the final with as many throws as the number of CTP wins they have achieved.

The CTP final takes place on Sunday after the 3rd round. Each of the six finalists throws two discs toward the target. The top three players advance to the final stage, where the player with the closest disc to the basket can keep their position for the final throw. The best result earns the title of CTP champion.

Overachiever
This award is given to the player who performs the best relative to their PDGA rating (based on the current ratings on the PDGA website).
All participants with an active PDGA membership and at least 20 rated rounds are eligible for this award.

Prizes and Tournament Respect Raffle
The raffle is held at the end of the tournament, after the awards ceremony for all categories. The main prize is typically a disc golf backpack. To be eligible for the raffle, players must meet the following criteria:
1. Be present at the Players meeting (you must be present when we call out your name).
2. Pay the tournament registration fee in advance or during the tournament (no later than the start of the awards ceremony).
3. Complete all rounds scheduled for your category.
4. Check-in on time (mandatory check-in before the 3rd round).
5. Be present at the Awards ceremony.

If a player is drawn in the raffle but has not met all the criteria, the prize will go to the next drawn player. A player cannot win a raffle prize at two consecutive tournaments.
