Disc golf - An Activity That Captivates

* the page is under construction as of June 5, 2024.

Disc golf is a sport with a tradition of over 60 years, most popular in the USA, Canada, and Northern and Western Europe.

This sport is best described as an urban and modern version of golf, played with a plastic frisbee instead of clubs and balls, and special baskets instead of holes in the ground.

A typical disc golf course consists of 18 holes, played individually or in groups of up to 5 players, with the entire course taking about 2 to 3 hours to complete. Shorter recreational courses with 9 holes are often designed, where a round of play takes up to 60 minutes.

The basic equipment needed for the game includes plastic or rubber discs, available on the market in various weights and with different flight characteristics (some fly more to the left, others to the right, etc.).

For a beginner player for recreational play, just two basic discs are enough, which can be purchased for a price ranging from €15 to €30 per disc.

How to Play?

To start playing disc golf, it doesn't require much effort, and the basics of throwing the disc are easy to learn. However, to improve the quality of the game to a higher level, it takes a lot of training and patience. On each hole, all players start from the same starting position. After all have thrown, each player continues the game from where their disc stopped. The goal of the game is to hit the disc into the finishing position - the disc golf basket - in as few throws as possible. The best player is the one who, after playing the entire course (e.g., all 18 holes), has the lowest total number of throws.

Where are the Courses Located?

In Croatia, as of June 1, 2024, there are 9 public disc golf courses.
