• | The sport is extremely popular in Scandinavia and Western Europe, while in Southern Europe, there are very few courses, indicating the potential to attract new tourists to the destination. |
• | Developing recreational areas can be realized with an investment starting from €6,000, and areas such as neglected forest areas can be put into use. |
Disc golf is a sport played with plastic discs (frisbees), and instead of holes in the ground as targets, metal baskets are used, which the disc must be thrown into. Disc golf courses are set up in park areas (e.g., Prater Park in Vienna), but they can also utilize neglected forest areas, thereby revitalizing and transforming them into attractive recreational spaces.
This dynamic game attracts players of all ages and experience levels, and it is extremely popular among youth and families, as well as suitable for older individuals. Investing in the development of disc golf and related forms of tourism can bring numerous benefits to your destination, including increased tourist visits, revenue generation, and promotion of an active lifestyle. Disc golf can extend the tourist season, attracting enthusiasts of this sport throughout the year, especially outside the main tourist season.
During their travels, disc golf enthusiasts often use specialized databases and applications like Udisc app to find disc golf courses where they can play, and those who play them can rate them, thereby motivating other players to visit. The Udisc app also provides valuable information to course owners about the use of the course, including annual and monthly reports on the number of users and the countries they come from, enabling better understanding of the profitability and effectiveness of disc golf course development. For tourist destinations, it is noteworthy that disc golf is extremely popular in the Scandinavian countries, Western Europe, the USA, and Canada. Since players from these countries are inclined to travel to participate in tournaments and discover new courses, there is a realistic possibility that, after course development, some of them will find their way to new disc golf courses in Croatia.
Developing disc golf courses can encourage tourists from larger centers to visit smaller towns. For example, during the summer season, a disc golf enthusiast will gladly, on a day when the weather is not suitable for beach activities, hop in a car and drive 50-100 km to a nearby disc golf course where they can spend the day engaging in their favorite recreation. Also, through the Udisc app, we often witness tourists staying in Zagreb going to Stubičke Toplice, located 30-45 minutes away, to play a few rounds at the local course.
By organizing disc golf tournaments and events, you can promote your destination as a destination for active leisure and recreation. Additionally, disc golf is an interesting activity for team-building programs, so it can attract additional guests or collaborate with tourist agencies that organize them.
In collaboration with us, you can develop a disc golf course in your destination and leverage the potential of this sport. The cost of developing a disc golf course depends on the number of tracks and the level of development, but we can always tailor the project to your needs and budget. Smaller recreational courses can be set up on areas of 4-5 hectares (e.g., 100 x 500m or 200 x 250 m), with a cost of around €6,000, while demanding competitive courses are set up on areas of around 20 hectares with an investment of around €30,000.
For the development of disc golf, we can offer you the following options:
Organization of sports promotion We can organize sports promotion at your location to encourage citizens to engage in this activity. The cost of organizing a one-day event is €300 plus actual travel expenses from Varaždin to your location. |
Organization of local or international disc golf tournaments Our rich experience in organizing competitions can be translated into organizing disc golf events in your area. We provide complete event implementation, including the assembly of disc golf equipment, which we bring with us. The amount needed to organize a one-day tournament ranges from €800 for smaller national tournaments to €2,000 for regional tournaments, which you can provide as tourist support for the sports event. |
Designing disc golf courses For an initial investment of €1,500 to €3,000, you can get a professionally designed recreational course project that will serve as a basis for future investments. This is an ideal option for local governments planning long-term. The completed course project can be scheduled for execution in the coming years (applying for tenders, etc.), or offered to local businesses for further implementation and commissioning. |
Equipping and setting up disc golf courses Following the development of the disc golf course project, our team of experts can help you equip and set up the course to the highest standards. We select the highest quality equipment and materials to make your course attractive and functional. Equipping a recreational course with 6 tracks can be realized with a cost starting from €5,000, while the estimated cost of setting up and equipping a competitive course with 18 tracks is around €20,000. |
